Terror attack on Coimbatore foiled
An attempt was averted to attack the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Saturday by the city police.

Coimbatore: The Police on Saturday averted an attempt to attack the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and arrested five persons along with explosive substances in the city.

The police have arrested five persons - Arun Pasha, Manik Pasha, Ravi alias Tipu Sulatan, Adhikoor Ur Rehman and Samsuddin - belonging to Manitha Neethi Pasarai (MNP), a fundamental outfit.

City Police Commissioner Karan Singka said that acting on definite information, a special police team carried out a search operation and seized Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the home of Pashas in Kurichi on the outskirts of the city early on Saturday.

Papers recovered at the home of Pashas revealed a plan to bomb the city government hospital, the official said.
