New Delhi: Khejuri in West Bengal continues to be tense after a police station was picketed on Friday by Trinamool Congress workers and more arms were recovered.

Police recovered nine daggers, four guns and 16 bombs from a pond in the area late on Friday.

A huge cache of arms was also recovered from the house of a local Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Shyama Pada Kar and two party activists were arrested in connection with the arms haul.

Trinamool workers picketed the local police station till late on Friday night, preventing the police from taking 14 of their arrested party workers to the court at Contai.

The Trinamool activists were arrested for ransacking CPI-M party offices in East Midnapore district.

Trinamool MP Subhendu Adhikari described the violence as "an expression of people's pent-up anger".
