SANGAREDDY: The security guard of a temple was killed and the hundi money of Yellamma temple was stolen by assailants on the outskirts of Patancheru late Saturday night.The deceased, B Ramulu (65) of Patancheru, was employed as a guard at the temple just three days ago. Police said unidentified persons smashed Ramulu's head with a boulder, leading to his instant death. They later broke open the lock of the Hundi and stole the money. On Sunday morning, the temple priest, Prabhakar, came to the temple to perform daily rituals and found Ramulu lying in a pool of blood on the temple porch and alerted the police. Temple authorities said the hundi is opened once in 15 days and the collection during the said period would be between Rs 3,000 to 4,000.
Sniffer dogs followed the accused till the main road leading to BDL Bhanur and later, lost trial of them. Police said the accused might have fled in a vehicle from there. Police reportedly took the former security guard at the temple for questioning. Ramulu is survived by wife and two children. Patancheru police registered a case .
