Telecom companies have decided to send legal notices to telemarketing agencies to stop calling their customers or they will drag the matter to court.

New Delhi : Fed up of telemarketing calls at odd hours and odd places? If you thought you were the only one sick and tired, then you were wrong.

Telecom companies, who are flooded with subscriber complaints, on this issue are equally irritated and mobile operators have finally decided to do something about it.

They are now planning to send legal notices to banks and telemarketers.

Director General, Cellular Operator's Association, T V Ramachandran says, "We will send legal notices to them telling telemarketing companies to stop calling our customers or we will take the matter to court."

Operaters are expected to decide on a final course of action by next week.

They are also looking at barring those numbers from which the telemarketers make their calls.

Secretary General, AUSPI, S C Khanna says, "On customer request we will bar calls from this number."

The Reserve Bank of India has already asked banks to maintain a no-call register for its customers as well as not to make unsolicited calls.

The Supreme Court is also expected to hear a Public Interest Litigation on the matter next month.
