Sydney: Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who is facing a three-Test ban following his spat with Andrew Symonds at Sydney, has said that the happenings at the Sydney Test made Team India into a solid unit and imbibed spirit and passion into it, which eventually led to the historic Perth win.
Harbhajan, who was the first one to run up to the field with a flying tricolour in his hand after Perth win, said that Indians had been galvanised by the events in Sydney.
He said that though he didn’t care whether he would be the part of the Indian Team at Adelaide, the winning streak would continue and that his team would trounce the hosts at both the remaining Tests.
"Obviously it (Sydney incident) was a big factor, because when something like that happens, everybody feels they have something to prove. And, I think the boys proved that in beating Australia. We are one unit. Whether we win or lose, we do it together. We are a team that can beat Australia on any given day, and we will now look to continue that momentum into Adelaide," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bhajji as saying in an interview
He added: "It is always special to beat the No.1 side in the world, but it is now important we build on this momentum and even the series in Adelaide. It is not up to me whether I play in Adelaide, but I do know that whatever team we put out, it will be good enough to win the game."
The bowler declined to comment on his pending appeal before the New Zealand high court judge John Hansen. "I am not going to talk about that. I will let the relevant cricketing bodies handle these matters. I would just like to thank everybody who came and supported me and the team when there was a bit of drama happening," he said replying to a question about his appeal.
