Surprise check at Parassala CIs office

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NRI Cell SP Cristopher Charles Raj conducted a surprise check at Parassala circle inspector’s office on Wednesday following complaints about the functioning of the circle inspector’s special squad formed to curb illegal sand mining activities.The raid was conducted as per the directive of high-level officers. Meanwhile, circle inspector S Muhammed Riyas was transferred to Kannur.  The department maintains that the transfer was made as part of a shake-up in the department ahead of Neyyattinkara by-election. However, several  allegations have been raised against senior police officers of hobnobbing with certain vested interests and sand mafia who works at the behest of a prominent caste organisation of the area.
