New Delhi: At the Delhi University campus, students of Delhi School of Social Work are busy packing the relief material they have collected over the past few days. Their teams would soon be leaving for Bihar to distribute them among the flood victims.
“Initially, we'll concentrate on the district of Madhepur and Araria area, and gradually we’ll spread out in the other districts. Students and faculty will go to Bihar in batches,” Faculty member, Delhi School of Social Work, Mayuri Gogoi, said.
It's a small effort being made by a university, which can go a long way to help people struggling for their lives in Bihar.
Students at other campuses in Delhi are not far behind either. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students are going from door to door to collect money for the flood-hit people of Bihar.
“At least 10-15 teams of JNU students are collecting fund for the flood victims,” President, JNU Students Union, Sandeep Singh, said.
Meanwhile in Mumbai, aid organisation Doctors For You is sending a team of doctors to Bihar to help in the relief work.
"Doctors for You is mobilising doctors from the entire country. There's a target of 1500 doctors whom they'll be sending to Bihar,” Dr Amit Singh, a resident doctor at Doctors for You, said.
As India battles its biggest national calamity after the 2004 Tsunami, these citizens ensure that every little contribution and every little effort counts.
