Gathi Kochur Paturi: Ingredients

To produce a large amount of paturi, very few components of the following ingredients are required:

  1. Very Good quality gathi kachu that can be boiled easily.
  2. Fresh banana leaves
  3. Grated coconut
  4. Poppy seeds
  5. Mustard
  6. Raw chillies
  7. Mustard oil
  8. A tiny bit of turmeric
  9. Salt

Gathi Kochur Paturi: Steps To Make

  • At first, wash the ‘Kochu’ very thoroughly and boil it in low flame.
  • Now mix the grated coconut, poppy seed, and green chillies and make a proper paste of it.
  • Now keep the paste aside peel off the outer layering of the boiled ‘Kochu’ and mix it with the paste.
  • Mash the paste thoroughly so that no lumps are left in it. You can also also use a grinder to make the mashed stuffing.
  • When the mashed paste is ready add the required amount of mustard oil, some turmeric and salt as per taste.
  • To cover up the paturi cut out medium size of banana leaves. After which put the stuffing on it.
  • Before adding the batter coat the top with some some mustard mustard oil and green chillies.
  • Now, close the opening of the paturi, tie it with a very thin thread and set it over boiling water.
  • Once this is maintained for almost twenty minutes, the delectable gathi kachur paturi is prepared.
