THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the people stranded at the railway station here on the hartal day on Monday, it was a group of youngsters who came to the rescue. The members of ‘All In a Movement’ voluntarily transported hundreds of passengers to their destinations on two-wheelers, thereby partly relieving the hardships the public had to endure. The bunch of youths, including a young girl, were busy enquiring the stranded passengers about their destination.“We understand that the hike in petrol price is a great challenge to the people. But we also cannot justify the act of the hartal supporters who leave the common man to bear the brunt of the hartal. So, we decided to offer rides to people stranded at the railway station,’’ said J S Dilber, secretary of the NGO. ‘All in a Movement’ is the brainchild of 12 former students of the 2005-08 batch of MG College here. Within just three years they have been able to increase the membership from 12 to 70. ‘’We are not apolitical. But our political inclinations and affiliations do not prevent us from saying that the innocent people should not be held for ransom,’’ says Vineeth V, who was leaving the station to drop a man from Mumbai to nearby Pappanamcode. When asked about the source of funding, their faces lit up with pride. “We don’t accept charity. We shell out money from our own pocket,’’ said C S Soumya, a civil service aspirant, of the team.
