New Delhi: A 35-year old business consultant has died after being mowed down by a Mercedes car allegedly driven by a teenager in Delhi's Civil Lines area.
Police said the man, identified as Sidharth Sharma, was mowed down by the speeding car near the Delhi Chief Minister's residence on Monday night as he was walking home.
Sharma was flung several feet into the air and landed at least 15 metres away as the car hit him. Due to the impact of the accident, a tyre of the car burst and the vehicle stopped after a sharp drift on the road.The accused fled the spot leaving the car behind
Police sources said the owner's son, who is a minor, was behind the wheel, while eyewitnesses said there were 3-4 other boys with him in the car.
Police have sent a notice to the car owner, Manoj Aggarwal, but no arrests were made till Tuesday night. His driver told the police he was responsible for the accident, but later retracted the confession claiming it was made under pressure.
