Sonia clears Priya Dutt for Mumbai byelection
Priya Dutt is being groomed by the Congress party to take the place of her illustrious father.

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the candidature of Priya Dutt, daughter of late Sunil Dutt, for the byelection to the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency.

The seat had fallen vacant due to the death Sunil Dutt, who was the Sport Minister in the Manmohan Singh Government.

Shiv Sena supreme, Bal Thackarey has already said that it has become an emotional dilemma for him to nominate a candidate against Priya Dutt as she is the daughter of his departed friend Sunil Dutt.

Priya is married to Kamal Dutt and was actively involved in her father?s election campaign.

In a related development, Ms Gandhi had also approved the nomination of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane for the byelection to the Malwan Assembly constituency in the state.

Rane, who is the Revenue Minister in the Maharashtra Government, had recently defected from the Shiv Sena to the Congress party.
