Singing Christmas carols for a good cause

HYDERABAD: The Christmas spirit arrived early with Tabernacles, a Gospel singing group presenting well-known Christmas carols during their 44th annual concert at Rail Kalarang in Secunderabad on Saturday evening.A thirty-member choir rendered famous carols in parts through the soprano, tenor, alto and bass in western and contemporary style.The choir was accompanied with string instruments such as first violin, second Violin, double bass guitar and piano.The conductor Kenneth V Gibson lead the group, which also presented western classical carols from Mozart, Beethoven, Hayden and other composers during the concert.The choir members are chosen from Catholic and protestant groups of various churches from the twin cities.Rhoda Vijaya, secretary, The Tabernacles said every year the group donated proceeds of the concert to a charitable organisation.This year the proceeds went towards cancer patients of Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society.Das Roberts, chairman of the group presented the cheque to Gayatri, a representative of the society
