CHENNAI:  Shocked relatives of Latha, who was among the 13 Indians who died in an aircrash in Nepal on Monday, are rushing to the country to meet her two children and husband T K Sreekanth, who survived the accident and are in hospital. According to Latha’s brother-in-law Srinivasan, 36-year-old Sreekanth, who is a system engineer at Infosys in Mahindra City had left for Nepal on May 10 along with wife Latha (35) and children Srivardhini (9) and Sripadha (6). “They wanted to go on a pilgrimage,” said Srinivasan, husband of Latha’s sister Kala. According to the police, the family had booked for the trip through Sri Travels and had visited Delhi, Lucknow and Ayodhya before reaching Nepal. They were to return on May 16. They were on their way to Mukthinath, when the plane crashed, Srinivasan said. While Latha died, Sreekanth sustained head injuries and was said to be under ventilator in Manipal Hospital at Pokhara. Srivardhini sustained an injury above her eye and Sripadha suffered a fracture in her right leg, relatives said.“We spoke to the children. They are shaken. They don’t know that their mother is no more. They just want us to come and take them back,” Srinivasan said. The family hails from Tirupati and had settled in an apartment at Virugambakkam here before leaving for the US as Sreekanth was assigned a project there, neighbours said. After living in Jersey City for about five years, the family returned in late 2010.
