New Delhi: In a case of lust over brains, the mighty Tiger Woods has started to appear as mortal as anybody else. The extent of damage to his reputation will eventually be know once the dust settles but clearly the big question is if Woods has started to lose his stature in the golfing community.
"It's a private thing, of course. But when you are the guy he is - when you're the world's best athlete - you should think more before you do stuff ... and maybe not 'Just do it,' like Nike says," says Jesper Parnevik.
Just a week since the fateful car crash that destroyed more than just an expensive car, Woods's squeaky clean reputation as a family man has also been torn to shreds.
So much so, that even one of his friend in golf, the man who introduced Woods to Elin Nordegen in 2001 is regretting playing the role of matchmaker.
"I would feel especially sad for Elin since me and my wife are at fault hooking her up with him. We probably thought he was a better guy than he is then. I would probably just apologize to her and hope she uses a driver next time than a three-iron I would say," says Parnevik.
Moreover, Woods is starting to crack under the strain with 27-year old Kalika Moquin just the latest addition to an alleged roster of girlfriends that includes night club hostess Rachel Uchitel and cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs.
so once the dust settles; how much damage will all this cause to the champions golfer's reputation? After all, he is an iconic figure around the world and a role model aspiring golfers.
Clearly the saga is far from over and Woods may have retreated into the background but this story isn't going away anytime soon.
