THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sanskrit Department of Kerala University is organising an international seminar on ‘Awareness about the Environment in Sanskrit Literature’ on September 27 and 28. University Vice-Chancellor Dr A Jayakrishnan will inaugurate the event.Twenty-one experts will present papers at the seminar. They include Maciek Karasinski of Jagiellonian University, Poland, M K Nandanan, deputy director, Institute of Watershed Development and Management, former chairman of the Kerala State Biodiversity Board Dr V S Vijayan, former head of the Kerala University Environment Science Department Dr V R Prakasam, Dr Ali Pezhnan, Marzieh Hajian Sepoleh from Iran and Dr S Y Vakkankar of the MS University, Vadodara. Former Shief Secretary R Ramachandran Nair will be chief guest on September 28.Lecture SeriesThe University, in association with the UGC, is planning a lecture series on various facets of human rights during October and March. State Human Rights Commission chairman Justice J B Koshi will inaugurate the series at Press Club on September 27 at 3.15 pm. M P Joseph, head of UN’s International Labour Organisation chief in Cambodia, will deliver the first lecture.
