SC grants bail to Bangalore blast accused Madani for treatment
Opposing his bail, the Karnataka government had said that they would make adequate arrangements for his treatment in custody.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has granted bail to Kerala PDP Chairman and Bangalore blast accused Abdul Nasser Madani for treatment. Madani was arrested in 2010 in connection with the Bangalore blasts which killed one person and injured 20 others. He has been in jail since then.

The Karnataka government opposed granting bail to Madani. The government maintained its stand that it will make adequate arrangements for his treatment in custody.

Arguing in favour of Madani, senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan said that he should be granted bail as he had been suffering from an acute case of diabetes. He also argued that it would be difficult for him to undergo operation if he stays in jail. Madani has been on wheel chair due to

The Karnataka High Court, earlier while rejecting his bail plea in November 2012 had permitted him to avail treatment in a hospital of his choice under police escort.

Madani is among 31 persons chargesheeted in the case relating to the July 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts. He was arrested by the Karnataka Police in Kerala. Being a PDP leader, his arrest had led to a lot of hue and cry in the state.
