New Delhi: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs on Wednesday summoned Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh to New Delhi. The interrogation will take place in the national capital on Thursday.
Ghosh was named by Saradha Group chairman Sudipta Sen as one of the beneficiaries of the chit fund scam, the biggest financial scandal to rock West Bengal, in his letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He has been repeatedly interrogated by the Bidhannagar police, who are investigating the case.
Ghosh is an MP form Trinamool Congress. He has been suspended from his party on charges of anti-party activities.
The Saradha scandal, the biggest such scandal to hit the state came to light in April, 2013 when the company closed shop across Bengal, unable to pay back depositors, many of whom were from poorer sections of society and had parked their life's savings with the company, lured by the promise of huge returns.
As the company went bust, many agents and investors committed suicide, and protests took place across the state.
