Arvind Yadav, aged 30, the city general secretary of Mulayam Singh Yadav Youth Brigade, was gunned down near a lane adjacent to Nagarpalika in Kotwali area, police said.
He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, they said adding his attackers had been identified.
A police press release said Yadav was a history-sheeter and as many as 16 cases, including that of murder and loot, were registered against him.
