New Delhi: Allaying apprehensions over accommodation during December's Doha Asian Games, the Olympic Council of Asia has assured a hassle-free stay for all athletes and officials during the sporting extravaganza.

The Asiad village in Doha, built at the cost of $500 million, has been constructed keeping in mind 10,000 athletes and officials whereas 13,500 delegates are expected from the 45 participating countries for the 15-day meet.

Japan has even lodged a protest on the ground that only 693 beds had been provided for its 811-member contingent.

However, OCA Secretary Randhir Singh said considerable progress had been made in terms of preparations, including accommodation, for the Asiad.

"All athletes and officials whose names have been forwarded by the respective National Olympic Committees will be accommodated at the Asian Games Village and there is no cause for concern in this regard," Singh said.

"There had been claims from some quarters that there would not be enough beds to house all of the athletes and delegates. These fears appear to have been arrested," he was quoted as saying on the Games' official website.

"I'm pleased to confirm that all technical matters concerning the conduct of the Games as well as the test events for the Games have been completed and the OCA is extremely pleased with the outcome," Singh added.

Meanwhile, the Department of General Passports and Expatriate Affairs of Qatar has said they have put extra measures in place to deal with the expected surge in numbers of foreign visitors to the country during the Games starting on December 1.
