In a bid to check the spread of the Maoist movement, the state government has decided to prepare a master plan for improving road connectivity in the tribal areas spread across eight districts in the state.
The state government has issued orders to constitute state, district and mandal level committees for the same. The committees will prepare projects under the left-wing extremism affected districts scheme, PMGSY, NREGS and schemes of roads and buildings, panchayat raj and tribal welfare departments.
As per the government order, the state-level committee will be headed by the chief secretary, district-level committee by the collector and mandal-committee by the sub-divisional officer.
The state government has also issued guidelines for preparation of a master plan as per which the tribal welfare engineering department should prepare mandal-wise maps and plans and identify the road network required to provide access to habitations with a population exceeding 50.
