The state government appointed retired IAS officer Dr Prem Chand as commissioner of inquiries to probe into the misappropriation of 300 five-gram gold coins in Tirumala. Orders to this effect were issued by the revenue department on Saturday.
The commission of inquiries should submit its report within three months. It will inquire into the charges framed against retired special grade deputy executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and other officials and staff involved in the misappropriation of the gold coins.
Before this, the case was under an IPS officer, Jitender.
