CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday announced a reservation of 10 per cent for destitute women within the 30 per cent quota for women in recruitment to the State police, prison and fire departments.In an official announcement, the State government said, in recruitment to State services with a grade pay not exceeding Rs 2,400, a 10 per cent sub-quota was being given to destitute women from within the reservation for women.“Chief Minister Jayalalithaa came to know that such a reservation is not being given to destitute women in police recruitment. She has ordered reservation of 10 per cent for destitute women from the 30 per cent quota for women done through the Police Recruitment Board.”For vacancies to the posts of Grade II constable, Grade II prison warden and fire personnel in the Fire and Rescue Department, a reservation of 10 per cent will be provided for destitute women, the government release added.
