New Delhi: Renowned dancer and choreographer Chandralekha died of cancer at her residence in Chennai, family sources said on Sunday.
Chandralekha, 78, passed away late on Saturday night.
The dancer, who had been ailing for a long time, had been recently discharged from the hospital.
A Bharatanatyam exponent, Chandralekha caught the public imagination through her innovations and experiments in various dance forms.
She has bagged many honours including, Sangeet Natak Academy Fellowship and Kalidas Samman.
