He was one the finest artists India has ever had. His paintings created a wave of refreshing art not only in India, but all around the world. He was and will always be remembered for his art, though a few were controversial, they were indeed pieces of brilliance. “His paintings spoke his heart out. Though some of his paintings sold for more than Rs 4 crore, he was still like a fresher at his heart at every painting,” opined Laxma Goud, senior Hyderabadi artist and a close associate of Husain. “Husain Sahab had that charm about him. As an artist you need to have that attitude and there was a meaning to his existence as his art was his life,” he added.Various artists and art collectors from all over the city, like Anju Poddar, Jagdish Mittal, Thota Vaikuntham, Laxma Goud, Stanley Suresh and many more renowned artists gathered at the Shrishti Art Gallery to attend an event paying tribute to the departed MF Husain, who was dubbed to be an “Indian Picasso”.    Anju Poddar, an art collector and socialite, shared her experiences and memories of MF Husain. “He was very generous and never refused anyone anything. He loved kids and always wanted them to be around him when he painted. When my grand-daughter offered him an eraser, he refused and he said he does not know how to use an eraser,” she reminisced, continuing, “Channe Ke Khet Mein was his favourite Madhuri Dixit song.”“Husain Sahab was a great artist. Everything he did was indeed good,” said artist Rasna Bhushan, added, “Freedom of expression in very much prevalent in the country, which comes with a sense of responsibility. But, power has always been afraid of what artists wanted to say.”Jagdish Mittal, one of the city’s most senior collectors of Indian art and the man behind the Jagdish and Kamla Mittal Museum of Indian Art, said, “Husain was indeed an inspiration. His paintings show that. It is big loss to the fraternity.”Artist and Ikebana expert Rekha Reddy spoke about her experiences working with MF Husain where she compiled Ikebana with Husain’s paintings.  She said his works at Cinema Ghar were very beautiful and inspiring. “It is very unfortunate that we lost him. Apart from being an artist he was a great human being,” said Remani Nambiar, owner of the Shrishti art gallery.
