But the army said on Monday that the former rebels were not welcome as long as they were politically indoctrinated.
Prachanda, the Maoist leader and a probable future prime minister, has publicly called for early inclusion of his fighters into the army.
Serving Prime Minister G P Koirala wants the former rebels to be incorporated into a newly set up industrial security force.
Maoists in Nepal have so far bagged 116 seats, just five short of a simple majority, in the Assembly elections held last week.
