Recycling for a cause

Make A Difference (MAD), a youth volunteer network that works in the area of educating children from marginalised section of society, is joining hands with the NGO Paperman to further their cause of empowering underprivileged children. The venture is called it PaperMAD. MAD would collect waste paper, used  magazines and books from volunteers and hand it over to Paperman. Paperman would recycle the paper and the proceeds generated would be used to educate many the under privileged kids from our society. The initiative has environmental implications as it would be a step towards protect trees and encouraging the use of recycled paper.

MAD would collect paper waste from houses, offices, college and schools  and invites participation from the public. Mayor K Chandrika inaugurated the event last week as part of the Joy of Giving week. As of now 5 apartments,5 colleges and 5 residence have shown their support for the cause, says Munna Aarish, the spokesperson for MAD in the city.

MAD works with children in orphanages and shelter homes helping them with English language skills. They are supported by Cambridge University Press. The English project takes learners from Starters to Intermediate levels instructing them using Cambridge English for Schools. Paperman is a social venture launched with the objective to raise the spirit of recycling, and to make a measurable environmental impact in the society. So, if city residents have trash to donate MAD volunteers would happily come over and collect it. They can be contacted at 9446310656.
