KOCHI: The Youth Congress in the state is in a transformation phase with the members going to be rated according to their performance. The organisation has decided to strengthen the unit management system, put forth by party general secretary Rahul Gandhi, which would review the performance of each of the office-bearers and also that of the various committees.“The unit management system is going to be a decisive factor in the coming days,” said D V Vinodh Krishna, Youth Congress general secretary who is in charge of the Unit Management.Though a few top leaders of the Youth Congress and Congress are against the move, the party leadership believes this could change the style of functioning of the organisation and only performing members could climb the ladder. The opposing group said that the new system was a corporate model. It has been said that these leaders were criticising the new system as in the future they would not be able to promote their own men in the committees. Krishna said that every month there would be areview meeting at all levels. Earlier, there were no reviews and the leaders had a free hand. Krishna said there was transparency in the system as all the remarks and ratings could be seen by other members. “There will be no place for complaints as everyone could see how they have performed,” Krishna said and added that the Congress could also adopt this system in the near future. He said that the Assembly review meeting would be held in the first week of every month followed by the Lok Sabha review from the 10th to 15th. The State Committee review would be held from the 15th to 20th while the all-India review would be conducted last. Every three months, Rahul Gandhi would address the review meeting. Krishna added that Rahul was expected to address the meeting in Kerala in a few months’ time.
