Haridwar: Three persons, including Ramdev's brother Rambharat, were sent to 14 days' judicial custody even as seven more persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with the clash between security guards of yoga guru's Patanjali Herbal and Food Park and local union of transporters which left one dead.
Haridwar's SP (City) Surjit said Rambharat and two other employees of Ramdev's firm were produced in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sandip Bhandari late Wednesday night who sent them to 14 days' judicial custody. A clash had taken place on Wednesday between security guards of Ramdev's firm and members of a local union of transporters protesting for some time against the firm engaging truck operators from outside Haridwar for transporting its products in which one truck driver had been shot dead.
Meanwhile, seven more persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident. The truck driver named Baljit, who was killed in a firing during the clash on Wednesday, was consigned to flames on Thursday in his native village Ethal.
PAC personnel deployed at Patanjali Food and Herbal Park following the incident were withdrawn today in view of Ganga Dusshehra when a large number of devotees converge on the banks of the river for a holy dip. A demonstration planned by deceased truck driver Baljit's kin and members of the union of transporters was put off due to mediation by SSP Sweety Aggarwal, police sources said.
Six weapons, including three 12 bore rifles have also been recovered from Patanjali Food Park. On the basis of a complaint lodged by truck union president Dharmendra Pradhan at Pathri police station, a case has been registered against Ramdev's borther Rambharat, Manager of the park Yogesh Nagpal and another employee Anil Goswami. Rambharat is also the managing director of the Patanjali Food Park. Meanwhile, the issue has begun to acquire political colour with Congressmen burning photographs of Ramdev at different places in protest against the firing incident and demanding his arrest.
