The Rajasthan government on Friday announced the relaunch of a scheme in which the state will give pension to those detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the Emergency. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
Raje had announced the monthly pension to MISA detainees in 2008 when she was chief minister. However, her successor Ashok Gehlot ordered the scrapping of the scheme in 2009 when the Congress came to power.
Minister Rajendra Rathore said: "It was decided in the cabinet meeting that we will revive the pension scheme to benefit those who were detained under MISA. Quantum of pension will be decided soon."
Launch of a special sanitation campaign across the state Jan 10-30 and review of some ordinances passed by the previous government were also among decisions taken in the meeting.
