New Delhi: With the income tax raiding team offices across the country, there are more and more questions arising over the ownership structure of the IPL teams.
Details emerging about Rajasthan Royals, winners of the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, now show that there are companies in Mauritius and Channel islands that have more stake than even Shilpa Shetty.
According to information available, Rajasthan Royals is owned by Jaipur IPL Pvt Ltd, which is a wholly owned by EM Sporting Holding, Mauritius.
Bahamas-based Kuki Investments holds 11.7 per cent stake in the team and the Kundra family owns stake in Kuki Investments through two companies in Guernsey, Channel Islands.
Suresh Chellaram, who owns 44.15 per cent staje, is the brother-in-law of Lalit Modi. He holds stake in the holding firm through a string of four companies in British Virgin Islands.
Hong-Kong based Blue Water Estate, Hong Kong holds 11.7 per cent. Lachlan Murdoch, son of Rupert Murdoch owns stake in an Australian firm which holds Blue Water Estate.
The fourth stakeholder is UK-based Manoj Badale who owns 32.4 per cent through Emerging Media.
