Rajasthan government on Thursday directed officials to ensure hygienic midday meals were served to students under the said programme. The orders came in the wake of the alleged food poisoning incident at a school in Bihar which claimed the lives of 23 students.
The State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department issued a circular asking all District Collectors, Zila Parishad CEOs and other officials concerned to ensure all guidelines were strictly followed for the midday meal scheme in the state.
The circular was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary (Rural Development), CS Rajan. Close to 70 lakh students enrolled in 80,000 government schools are covered under the midday meal scheme in the state.
