For some it is an essential part of the Indian culture, while for some it is their unending and pure love that reflects from just a glance at their picture. But, for artist Dr Snehalata Prasad, it is romance personified, with a dash of nature. Titled Elegance, Snehalata’s latest exhibition is all about blending in aesthetic and contemporary art to bring out the romance between Radha-Krishna, in a novel, yet an equally subtle way. 15 frames of colour, art and canvas take you on through a picture story of the emotional journey of the artist through the theme of Radha and Krishna.Their intimacy, glimpses of the beautiful nature around them, stand perfect examples of portraying a conventional subject, in an unconventional way. “Radha and Krishna stand as epitomes of love in India and the subject is something which can be experimented with. Different people have different perceptions about this theme, as it is deeply embedded in our culture,” says Snehalata. She then goes on, “The whole process began about a year ago. It took me four months to research on the subject and then start working on them.”One striking feature about this show is the way Nature is used as the backdrop to the theme. “When I started working, I was clear that I wanted nature playing a major role in my paintings. Apart from Radha and Krishna, I also wanted to incorporate all the different elements of romance, that are created by nature.” True to her ideas, a walk through the gallery will take you into all new different world, full of nature and colour. The flora and fauna of nature in their expression of the artist give a thematic support to the central theme of the exhibition and provide that philosophical and spiritual tinge. “To get in that feel, my colours palette was limited to subtle colours and the scheme was never more than five or six colours. I had to work a lot on enhancing the texture of the nature, as it was the main backdrop.”A native of Rajasthan, Sneha has been living in Hyderabad for over eight years now. She is now standing in her 10th solo exhibition and second exhibition in Hyderabad. An artist, who prefers a bigger surface area on her canvas, her themes are usually centered around humanity, compassion, love and beauty. Inspired by the land of Rajasthan and the ever changing dunes, Sneha carries that rhetoric in her paintings.
