PUDUCHERRY: Chief Minister N Rangasamy met Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad in New Delhi, according to sources in the Chief Minister’s office on Tuesday.The sources said the Chief Minister had sought 1,500 additional posts in the government medical college and sought extra funds for it.He also met Union Minister for Human Resource Development and Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibal, and Union Food Minister K V Thomas. From Sibal he sought `82 crore for the implementation of various new schemes in higher education. The sources said Rangasamy, who had gone to Delhi to attend the Chief Minister’s conference on Internal Security, met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday. He had sought loan waiver of `4,040 crore and asked to withhold release of `96 crore as an adjustment towards the plan fund, from the Cyclone Thane interim relief of `125 crore.The Chief Minister is believed to have requested Union Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy for an increased gas allotment for the Karaikal power plant.He also urged the petroleum minister to increase the kerosene allotment from 372 kilo litre to 700 kilo litre (one kilo litre is 1000 litres).According to sources, Rangasamy also met Union Minister P Chidamabaram, but the details of the meeting were not available.
