SRIKAKULAM: Bhavanapadu Thermal Vyathirekha Porata Samithi BTVPS) protestors today said they will boycott the third phase of magisterial inquiry on Kakarapalli police firing by Joint Collector E Sridhar to be held at Tahisildar office, Santabommali on February 3.
“While we have been demanding a judicial inquiry into Kakarapalli firing and action against the then Collector N Srikanth and Superintendent of Police KVV Gopala Rao, government has instead ordered a majesterial inquiry headed by the Joint Collector, a lower cadre official,” lamented protesters of BTVPS Ramireddy and M Narasinga Rao.
On ongoing study of wetlands by the Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History SACON) BTVPS leaders said though the team was asked to take up a detailed study on wetlands in Srikakulam district, the team has only toured Nowpada swamps for one hour without interacting with locals. Meanwhile, the Paryavarana Pariraskhana Samithi of leaders said in a press release that they will attend the scheduled majesterial inquiry on Sompeta police firing on Feb 1 and 8.
