Private bus owners seek fare hike

BHUBANESWAR: The private bus operators on Wednesday met and urged the State Government to convene the technical committee to revise the bus fare in view of the diesel price hike.
The All Orissa Bus Owners' Association which held an urgent meeting expressed concern over the diesel price hike which it said has also raised rates of insurance, lubricants and spare parts too. Without revising the bus fare, it will be difficult to continue with the bus service under the circumstances since the latest hike of ` 3.57 a litre is the second after June 2010 when the Centre had raised it by ` 2 a litre, the association said.
