New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will visit Pakistan on January 13 to invite President Pervez Musharraf for SAARC summit to be held in India.
This was decided after a meeting between Mukherjee and Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mohammad Kasuri here on Monday.
Mukherjee is also likely to have substantive talks on the Indo-Pak relations during his visit.
"We need to develop trust. I am very happy that a senior leader of the Congress is in charge of the MEA," Kasuri said after the meeting. "We bear a heavy responsiblity and that requires a strong politician at the helm," he said adding that "I have high hopes after the meeting today."
Kasuri is currently in Delhi to attend the wedding of Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar's daughter.
