TALCHER: Paradoxically, Talcher which supplies power to as many as 22 states in the country, faces a two-hour daily official power cut. “There is two hour power cut in the morning and evening, which often extends to another two hours,” said a resident. And it does not end here. The town also witnesses frequent load shedding, which affects students and their studies.The Government had earlier announced that there would be no power cuts since the power position was comfortable.Chainpal division executive engineer J K Mishra, however, said they had resorted to power cuts following a directive from the Orissa power transmission authorities. He hinted at a power deficit situation in the State.Peeved over such unwarranted power cuts, BJP leader Jajati Pattnaik lodged an FIR with Talcher police station against the local executive engineer and the assistant engineer accusing them of not abiding by the Government’s order on ‘no power cuts’.
