The police could not identify the partially burnt body, which was found dumped on the army land at Vettamukku here on Saturday, till late Sunday evening.
‘’We have been collecting details about missing persons to identify the body. We have alerted all police stations, including those in other districts, and sent message seeking reports about missing persons. The post-mortem report and forensic examination result are awaited to reach a conclusion whether it was a murder or a suicide,’’ said Peroorkada Circle Inspector Jayachandran.
The body, the face and the upper part of which were charred beyond recognition, of a man was found in a decomposed state in the high security area on Saturday morning.
The lower portion of the body was, however, only partially burnt.
According to the police, the body was two to three days old and the approximate age of the person is believed to be between 40 and 45 years.
The police suspect that it was a case of murder.
