KOCHI: The Aluva police, which is investigating the controversial suicide of High Court lawyer Jijo Paul, is all set to close the investigations. The police, after quizzing many of his subordinates and family members, have concluded that the lawyer had committed suicide due to tension and work pressure.Clearing the speculations that the lawyer had committed suicide under pressure from a lady subordinate who threatened him regularly, the police confirmed that nothing was unusual between them. The speculation over the relationship between the two arose after the police decoded the mobile phone details of the lawyer and found that he was on a call with his subordinate for a long time, on the night of his death. However, the police found that they spoke about office-related matters. “We quizzed that subordinate twice. They discussed about the cases handled by Jijo Paul in the High Court. Even the suicide note does not have anything unusual. We also inquired this with his family members and they are familiar with the subordinate. They have no doubt regarding any unusual things behind his death,” a police official said.According to investigating officer and Circle Inspector of Aluva Jayakrishnan, the family members have not registered complaints in this regard. “The family members have been quizzed several times. Until now, only a missing case has been reported by the parents. We quizzed the subordinate and the family members and could not find any thing unusual,” he said.As there were no complaints with regard to the suicide of the lawyer, the case will be closed in a few days. “The lawyer committed suicide because of high tension and work pressure,” Jayakrishnana said. The body of the lawyer was found floating in Periyar River near Aluva old bridge on December 21 last year. His car with a suicide note inside was found parked near the bridge. The post-mortem was conducted at Ernakulam Government General Hospital.
