The poetry of the treesWe never understand.Ignoring the pleading waving boughsWe clear out all the land. What will we do without them?We can’t wipe them from here. But man will never understandWe want grazing lands clear. The wind is bringing cyclonesAgainst the human race,The water bringing floods of tearsTo mother earth’s face. The rocks and soil are shiveringBecause of all the fright,With man digging up the crustOf the earth with all his might. The angry sun sends up raysThrough the torn blanket of air.The poles melt in sorrow.Do we humans care? We see the greens a’ fallingWhen the axes hit.The birds and creatures flee away,We do not care a bit. We think the world is ours,The nature is our slave,Should serve us with all that we wantWith every impossible crave. If this continues for longWe’ll make our own dooms day,No forest, no birds, no animals,No trees, no flowers of May. I hope that man will realize,If nature leaves from here,With all animals, trees and birds,We will be wiped out clear.Upasana is a VI standard student at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Vidyashram
