Bangalore: Top aerospace scientist, Roddam Narasimha, who quit as member of the Space Commission on Friday said that he had requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding his membership of the body. "I have requested to PM regarding my membership." However, the PM is yet to accept it, he said.
He added, "The action which has been taken recently (the blacklisting of former ISRO chief G Madhavan Nair by the government) could lead to demoralization of scientists."
"There have been no losses. Most ISRO scientists have committed their personal life for the research centre of India. Their achievements are great and brought very good results," he said.
"The ISRO is a great organisation... I am no longer a member of the Space Commission," he added.
Narasimha quit as member of the Space Commission early on Friday, protesting against the government's decision to blacklist former Nair and three other scientists over the controversial Antrix-Devas deal.
"We submitted the report after identifying the lapses and suggested measures to make sure that they do not happen again. We found no evidence of wrong-doing or fraud or personal gain. I am deeply distressed over the humiliation heaped on people who spent their whole professional lives working for a valued national goal," Narasimha was quoted as saying by the Deccan Chronicle.
Nair and three other ex-ISRO scientists were blacklisted based on two official reports on the controversial deal.
An earlier committee comprising of Professor Narasimha and BK Chaturvedi had said there was no question of financial losses due to "cheap selling" of spectrum in the Antrix-Devas deal.
