PM Modi in Mumbai: After the Jammu visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mumbai and became the first recipient of the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award. “Tomorrow evening, I will be in Mumbai where I will receive the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award. I am grateful and humbled by this honor associated with Lata Didi. She always dreamt of a strong and prosperous India and contributed to nation-building,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
The award has been instituted in memory and honor of the legendary singer who passed away at the age of 92 years in Mumbai earlier this year.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi was in Jammu and Kashmir in his first visit to the Union Territory since the abrogation of Article 370. Here are the updates of PM Modi’s J&K visit:

-After the Jammu visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mumbai today to receive the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award.
-PM Modi said it is a matter of great pride that at a time when democracy has reached grassroots in Jammu and Kashmir through the panchayati raj system, he was interacting with panchayats across the country. He said be it democracy or carrying out development, Jammu and Kashmir is presenting a new example these days. New dimensions of development have been created in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two-three years, he said.
-PM Narendra Modi, while addressing the young generation, said that they wouldn’t have to face any problems which were earlier faced by their grandfathers.
-“Be it democracy or development, today Jammu and Kashmir, is setting a new example. New dimensions of development have been created in J&K in the last 2-3 years. A new story of development is being written. Many private investors are interested to come to the Union Territory,” the PM said.
-PM Modi said that it is a big day to give pace to the development in Jammu and Kashmir. He also said that work is being done to give pace to the development in the UT.
-“This year’s Panchayati Raj Day, being celebrated in J&K marks a big change. It is a matter of great pride that when democracy has reached the grassroot level in J&K, I am interacting with you all from here,” PM Modi said.
– PM Narendra Modi lays foundation stones for the 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project and 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric Project to be constructed on the Chenab river in Kishtwar District.
– Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said that 80 lakh tourist visited the Union Territory in the past six months, breaking the record of past 15 years.
– Manoj Sinha also said that PM Modi has given a new industrial scheme in J&K. “Since independence till now there was just Rs 15,000 crore investment, now we’ve proposal of Rs 52,000 crore while projects of Rs 38,000 crore will be inaugurated by the PM. We expect investment to cross Rs 70,000 crore,” he said.
– PM Narendra Modi arrived in Jammu where he received a warm welcome at Palli village in the Samba district.
– Two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists from Pakistan killed in Sunjwan in Jammu on Friday had plans to disrupt PM Modi’s visit to Jammu. Investigations into the gunning down of the two attackers revealed that the terrorists wearing suicide vests had plans for mass casualties, a report in Hindustan Times said.
– A suspected blast took place in an agriculture field on the outskirts of Jammu in the Laliana village of Bishnah. The blast occurred just 12 kilometres away from the area where PM Modi is scheduled to address a gathering today. Police is suspecting that it was caused by a lightning strike or a meteorite. “We suspect it to be a meteorite…. might be lightning”, a senior police officer told PTI.
– Security checks are underway at the venue in Palli village in Samba from where PM Modi will address the panchayats across the nation on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Diwas.
– The visit, set to be his first after the abrogation of article 370 in August 2019, coincides with the ‘Panchayati Raj Diwas’ which is celebrated every year on April 24.
– The Prime Minister will address a gathering including more than 30,000 Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members of Jammu and Kashmir whereas PRIs from across the country will be connected virtually for the Prime Minister’s address.
– Top business leaders from the UAE will accompany the PM during the visit. The UAE firms are expected to propose investments amounting to over Rs 3,000 crore.
– A multi-tier security setup has been put in place for Modi’s visit to Samba. An alert has also been sounded along the border and a high degree of vigilance is being maintained at vital installations in J&K in view of the visit. “A multi-tier security setup has been put in place in Samba and adjoining areas as a part of foolproof security,” a senior official told PTI.
– As per reports, at Panchayat Palli in Jammu where the address will take place, an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations will be put up enabling farmers, sarpanches, and village heads to improve their income and their produce.
– PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of “multiple development initiatives worth around Rs 20,000 crore”, according to the PMO. He will also launch the Amrit Sarovar initiative, aimed at developing and rejuvenating 75 waterbodies in each district of the country, as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
– PM Modi will also inaugurate the Banihal Qazigund Road Tunnel, built at a cost of more than Rs 3,100 crore. PM Modi will also be flagging off some key projects.
– Some of the innovations that will be showcased are geospatial technology for rural development and farmers, apps usable by farmers for the weather forecast for five days, lavender cultivation is famously known as the purple revolution, biotechnology innovations to increase the production of apple on the same land to increase farmers’ income, drone application for pesticide spray and waste treatment, the shelf life of fruits to be increased through atomic radiation, etc.
– Modi had briefly visited J&K to celebrate Diwali with the armed forces in the Nowshera district on November 4, 2021. Before that, he had visited J&K in April 2019.
