Petitions on Sudhakarans speech dismissed

The First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday dismissed petitions with regard to the cases registered against K Sudhakaran MP regarding his controversial speech.

On the petition regarding monitoring the investigation relating to the controversial speech, Judge A Ijas said that it is for the investigating officer to find, after investigation, whether there is sufficient material to proceed with the investigation against Sudhakaran.

‘’I do not find it necessary to monitor the investigation,’’ the judge said.

‘’The speech allegedly made by Sudhakaran might have disclosed commitment of an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The report filed by the investigating officer shows that an advocate had filed a petition before the registrar of the Supreme Court. That petition was forwarded to the CBI. It is for the agency to investigate the matter and find whether the offence as alleged by Sudhakaran was committed,’’ the judge said, while dismissing the petition of Pallichal Pramod.

Sudhakaran, in his controversial speech in Kottarakkara, had said that he was witness to a Supreme Court judge taking bribe from the representatives of certain bar licencees in the state for getting a favourable order in a bar licence case.
