Parents suspect foul play over child's death in school, Sisodia calls urgent meet
It is really a matter of concern that some schools in Delhi are unsafe for children, said Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

New Delhi: The parents of the 6-year-old student Divyansh Kakrora, have suspected foul play behind their son's death.

Divyansh was found dead inside a septic tank at Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj on Saturday.

According to his mother, their son was found in a naked state and they could not find his clothes.

"His body was found in a naked state. We couldn't find the clothes," Mamata Meena, victim's mother said while questioning how a child could reach the tank at one corner of the school and fell inside with a 20 kg lid on it.

She alleged that the school principal didn't tell them anything.

"She (principal) just informed us and left. She didn't tell us the cause of his death. I repeatedly asked her but all my pleas went on deaf ears. The principal asked me to keep quite. We went to the spot and found that there is a locked pump room and there was another smaller room inside. One has to crawl a bit to reach the lid of the septic tank which was around 20 kilograms," she said.

"I suspect that someone killed my son and threw him in the septic tank," she alleged.

Meanwhile, amid growing protest over two such incidents in recent past, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday held an emergency meeting after two cases of drowning reported in Delhi schools in last four days.

Speaking to CNN-IBN, Sisodia said, "I have called an emergency meeting today at the secretariat with all the officers of education department."

Expressing concerned over the deaths, the deputy CM said, "It is really a matter of concern that some schools are unsafe for children. We can't allow kids to die like this. We are reviewing the situation and let's see what the education dept can do. It is a dangerous situation in schools."

Sources said, Delhi police will soon issue notice to School Principal and Divyansh's class teachers to join the probe.

"We are also going through the CCTV footage of the school lobby and playground," he said.

Earlier, on January 27, a 5-year-old boy died after he drowned in a septic tank of a municipal corporation-run school in south west Delhi's Kapashera area.
