Srinagar: Conglomerate of militant outfits United Jihad Council (UJC) on Monday claimed the responsibility of Pathankot Air Force Station attack in Punjab where a search and combing operation continued for the third consecutive day.
The Pakistan-backed United Jihad Council claimed that the attack was carried out by the Kashmiri terrorists associated with 'Highway Squad'.
The United Jihad Council is an umbrella group of Pakistan-backed Kashmiri terror groups. The Council operates from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. It is headed by terrorist Syed Salahuddin.
However, the government rubbished claims of United Jihad Council taking responsibility for the Pathankot terrorist attack. "This is deflectionary tactics", the sources said.
Earlier, two more terrorists were killed in the Pathankot operations. According to sources, security agencies blasted the terrorists' hideout on Monday.
One terrorist was blown to pieces in the blast while the other terrorist's body is being pulled out of the rubble, the sources added. If sources are to be believed, the probe suggests that there were two groups of terrorists. Both the terrorists entered the air base before alert was sounded.
