Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader Imran Khan is planning on holding a massive anti-Sharif rally on Thursday to push for fresh elections in Pakistan, prompting speculations of the Army trying to seize power again.
In what can prove to be Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's biggest test since assuming office, the rally is excepted to draw nearly a million people.
The cricketer-turned-populist politician is demanding Sharif's resignation - claiming that last year's elections were rigged and that Sharif has been elected through a fake mandate.
"Nawaz Sharif must resign before the judicial commission sits on the investigations. Fair investigation is not possible if Sharif remains in office. I have asked the youth of Pakistan to not spare Nawaz Sharif", said Khan.
The Pakistani PM, however, rejected demands for his resignation in a televised address to the nation on Tuesday.
Sharif has also said that a Supreme Court bench will look into the allegations made by Khan.
