New Delhi: The government has termed the video of an arrested ex-Indian Navy officer, which was released by Pakistan, as doctored and fake. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju has asserted that the video will have no effect on international platforms.
"Fake video made by Pakistan will have no effect on international platforms. The problem within Pakistan is one thing, then they are cooking up stories and doctoring videos to defame India," said Rijiju.
This comes after the Pakistan government released a video showing ex-naval officer, Kulbhushan Jadhav, admitting that he is a spy.
Indian government sources rubbished the video stating that the former officer was speaking under duress.
Government sources said that he must receive mandatory consular services, calling the video an attempt to divert attention from home grown terrorism.
In a video released by Pakistan, Jadhav is seen and heard purportedly "confessing" to his "involvement" in terror activities in Balochistan at RAW's behest.
The head of Pakistan Army's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa and Federal Information Minister Pervez Rashid held a press conference in Islamabad to release the video, saying Kulbhushan Jadhav "confessed" to working for Indian intelligence agency RAW to "foment trouble" in the restive province of Balochistan.
