Malkangiri: A Malkangiri fast track court on Tuesday granted bail to Naxal leader Srinivas Sriramulu as part of deal to free the abducted collector and junior engineer.
The two mediators handpicked by the Naxals had wanted Srinavas Sriramulu, along with Maoist ideologue Ganti Prasadam to be released, so that they can take part in negotiations for the release of Krishna and Majhi.
Naxals abducted Malkangiri District Collector R Vineel Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Majhi on February 17.
Meanwhile, talks are on to secure the release of Krishna and Majhi and Orissa government is likely to meet eight of the 14 demands made by the Naxals in exchange for the release of Krishna and Majhi.
Jailed Naxal leader Ganti Prasadam said that that he was willing to speak to the interlocutors.
"I want to speak to the interlocutors. The common goal is to diffuse the crisis as fast as possible," said Prasadam.
The demands put forward by the Naxals include release of prisoners in Orissa jails and tribal displacement and rehabilitation.
The bail plea of Prasadam and woman Naxal leader Padma will come up for hearing in the Orissa High Court on Wednesday.
The Naveen Patnaik government is also examining charges against 700 tribals lodged in various jails in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Jajpur and other districts.
