Open doors, windows but not fridges

HYDERABAD: ‘Open the doors and windows.Do not open the doors of refrigerators and ovens frequently.Switch off the fans and lights.’ The state energy department sent the above SOS to people of the state on Tuesday to save energy in view of the severe power shortage following the indefinite strike by coal miners and depleting stocks of coal reserves.The SOS reads: Switch off fans, air-conditioners and lights.Open the doors and windows.Use natural light and sunlight to the maximum extent.Disconnect supply from plug points when equipments are not in use.Frequent opening of refrigerator doors and ovens is to be avoided.Excessive illumination levels to be limited to optimum levels particularly in commercial establishments.It is advisable to use LED lightings so that power could be provided to more consumers in more areas and for more time.
