BHUBANESWAR: Scams, failures of the government and large-scale irregularities in the implementation of Centre-sponsored schemes will find place in the chargesheet being prepared by the OPCC against the Naveen Patnaik government. A preliminary round of discussion has already been held on the chargesheet at a meeting in Delhi on June 1 where OPCC president KP Singhdeo, Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh and Opposition Chief Whip Prasad Harichandan were present. Another meeting to finalise the chargesheet will be held here on June 8 before its announcement. The irregularities in the implementation of MGNREGS, the multi-crore mining scam, irregularities in the procurement of dal for the mid-day meal scheme and other failures of the State Government will find place in the chargesheet. The Congress has demanded inclusion of all the 30 districts in the CBI probe into MGNREGS. Stealing a march on the Congress, the State unit of the BJP had already released a chargesheet against the Naveen government. Senior Congress leader and in-charge of Orissa Jagdish Tytler will come on a two- day visit to the State beginning June 7 to carry on discussion with the State leaders for finalising the chargesheet. Meanwhile, the OPCC has convened an important meeting of all the elected and defeated chairpersons of the municipalities and NACs, former chairpersons, councillors and corporators on June 7. Tytler and Singhdeo will attend the meeting and address the partymen on the strategy to be adopted for strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level. AICC secretaries Mirza Irshad Baig and Binoy Kumar Sorake will also attend the meeting. Tytler’s visit to the State comes in the wake of the public spat between OPCC president KP Singhdeo and working president Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra. Singhdeo had advised the defeated Congress candidates in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in 2009 to contest the zilla parishad elections. Mohapatra had retorted asking Singhdeo to contest the panchayat election first to set an example to others.
